Sustainable Events Specialist (Hybrid/Silverstone)
About The Role
You will play an essential role to make sure Enovation Consulting’s clients achieve their ESG goals, getting involved in developing, implementing, measuring, and reporting for some of the most prestigious clients in motorsport.
You will need to be proactive, a good communicator, team player and have an independent, well organised and problem solving attitude.
Responsibilities
· Lead the collection of carbon footprint data for events, working closely with internal teams, suppliers, venues and other stakeholders to gather accurate and complete data across relevant areas. Analyse the data to identify key emissions sources and opportunities for reduction.
· Lead the delivery of robust sustainability reporting and compliance processes, ensuring accurate, consistent data and documentation. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to monitor performance against sustainability objectives, maintain appropriate records and ensure alignment with relevant standards, policies and regulatory requirements.
· Assisting in developing and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy, developing ESG framework, including carbon footprint reduction initiatives, waste management, sustainable sourcing, and responsible transportation.
· Assist in the planning and implementation of sustainable practices for large-scale sporting events, ensuring alignment with relevant international standards, including ISO 14064 (Greenhouse Gas Quantification and Reporting ISO 20121 (Event Sustainability Management System). Training on ISO 20121 will be provided, offering an opportunity to develop practical knowledge and experience in sustainable event management and compliance.
· Monitor, measure, and report on event sustainability performance, including energy usage, waste reduction, and the achievement of set carbon neutrality or net zero targets.
· Work closely with cross-functional teams (event planners, vendors, stakeholders) to integrate sustainability into all aspects of the event lifecycle.
· Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations and standards while helping events obtain necessary certifications.
· Create and implement accreditation and credentialing systems to ensure sustainable practices are adhered to by all participants.
· Develop strategies to align event goals with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting social equity, environmental stewardship, and economic prosperity.
· Collaborate with external stakeholders, including environmental organisations, sponsors, and local communities, to enhance the sustainability efforts and legacy of each event.
· Assist in organising educational workshops and awareness campaigns to engage event attendees and stakeholders in sustainability practices.
· Regularly assess and track the progress in collecting data.
· Maintain awareness of trends and innovations in sustainability, specifically within the sports and event management industries, to continuously improve the sustainability program.
Key Requirements
· At least 3+ years of proven experience in event coordination, with a specific focus on sustainability within the sports and/or events sector.
· Good understanding of relevant International Standards and Environmental Accreditation frameworks, and their application to event sustainability management.
· Knowledge of carbon footprint measurement, reduction strategies, and practical experience in achieving Net Zero and other carbon-neutral initiatives.
· Familiarity with SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and the integration of these goals into event planning and execution.
· Strong organisational and project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple events simultaneously.
· Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including event teams, suppliers, local authorities, and environmental groups.
· Proficient in sustainability reporting tools and metrics, including data analysis and carbon footprint calculation.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to present sustainability initiatives clearly and convincingly to stakeholders at all levels.
· Strong soft skills including problem-solving, adaptability, and leadership. Ability to work under pressure, long hours and manage change in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills and Experience
· Experience working in sustainable events. 3 to 5 years
· Familiarity with event-specific sustainability certifications (e.g. ISO 14001, ISO20121, etc.).
· Knowledge of local, regional, and international sustainability policies and regulations affecting large-scale events.
