GRACE INFLUENTIAL POSITIVE IMPACT AWARD

THE CHALLENGE

The Princess Grace Foundation leads Grace Influential, a global initiative dedicated to celebrating the life and charitable work of Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco. To protect and expand her legacy, the Foundation sought a novel way to connect her philanthropic nature with new generations and expand on its arts-centric work to reach new audiences. Simultaneously, Formula 1 has committed to communicating more effectively about the contributions made by the championship to global sustainability efforts, both through technological innovation and social impact.

Bringing these twin objectives together led to the creation of the Grace Influential Positive Impact Award, which is open to all competing Formula 1 teams and offers the opportunity to amplify their environmental and social sustainability efforts to industry figures, media, and fans. Our brief was to embed our robust, evidence-based approach at every stage of the award’s design, from its earliest conception in 2020 through to its launch at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix, laying solid foundations for its long-term legacy.

OUR APPROACH

The success of the award relied upon not only a robust and credible judging criteria and procedure, but also the effective management of many stakeholder groups and senior representatives from across the motorsport industry. Founder and CEO Dr Cristiana Pace was asked to act as ambassador to the award, and we leveraged our deep expertise of the sector to provide end-to-end strategic and tactical project management, with responsibilities including:

  • Designing the judging framework in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the UNFCCC framework, and F1’s Sustainability Strategy

  • Assembling the judging panel of global athletes, business leaders, and industry experts, with representation from the FIA, UEFA, Liberty Media, Pirelli, and Sky Sports, among others

  • Securing partnerships with founding sponsors Pirelli and media partner Sky Sports

  • Creating online portals for judging and stakeholder feedback

  • Managing senior stakeholders across all Formula 1 teams, global partners including Pirelli and Sky Sports, and Formula 1 itself

  • All aspects of event planning, including coordinating access, developing media and marketing materials, overseeing videography and press office functions, arranging photo opportunities

THE IMPACT

With the close support of our team, Grace Influential executed a hugely successful event.

Against stiff competition, the winner of the inaugural Grace Influential Positive Impact Award was Mercedes’ Accelerate 25 initiative, and Team Principal Toto Wolff was presented with the bespoke award trophy by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, in an audience with Greg Maffei, CEO of Liberty Media, Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1, and Brisa Carleton, CEO of the Princess Grace Foundation. The standard of entries in the first year of the award’s existence is testament to how seriously the Formula 1 teams take their responsibilities as role models for sustainability, setting a suitably high bar for future entries.

Delivering a prestigious event of this scale wouldn’t have been possible without the close collaboration and support of Formula 1, whose team were instrumental in bringing the award to life. We are proud to have been part of the development and delivery of the Grace Influential Positive Impact Award and look forward to building on its legacy over the years to come.

Brisa Carleton, CEO of the Princess Grace Foundation, said of our partnership: “Enovation Consulting has been an exceptional partner in the development and delivery of the inaugural Grace Influential Positive Impact Award; from the initial design of the award itself, through to the assessment criteria, judging panel selection, stakeholder management, and execution of the ceremony at the Monaco GP, they have been instrumental to its success at every step.

The team met every challenge and strategic evolution associated with bringing an entirely new concept to life with a constructive and solutions-focused approach, and I am grateful to them for the expertise and credibility they brought to proceedings.”
